Welcome to Yakutsk!
Welcome to Yakutsk!

Yakutia is the largest administrative-territorial unit in the world and the largest region of the Russian Federation. Capital of the republic – Yakutsk - is the largest city on permafrost. It was in Yakutsk back in 1996 that the Children of Asia Games were held for the first time. They were held in honor of the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympic movement and promote its original values: mutual respect, friendship, personal development. In 2024, the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games will return to their birthplace and will be held in Yakutsk.

Modern Yakutsk is a dynamically developing city that has preserved the diversity of peoples and cultures, the educational and economic center of the diamond Republic. The city has many attractions, museums, architectural and natural monuments that demonstrate the history and life of Yakutia.

Sports infrastructure is also well developed in Yakutsk. Stadiums, sports complexes, many of them will be involved at the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games.

Yakutia is also known as the birthplace of mammoths. More than 70% of the world reserves of fossil mammoth bone and other remains of the mammoth fauna are concentrated on the territory of Yakutia. For example, the Mammoth Museum in Yakutsk is considered a truly unique place, because it is the only one in the world where unparalleled paleontological finds are explored and exhibited. Many studies of Yakutia on the findings of mammoths and cave lion cubs have become a scientific sensation not only in the country, but also on the world level.
