Debut of kickboxing

At the 8th Games in Yakutsk, kickboxing as a sport was included in the program of International Sports Games for the first time. It is known that in the concept of the Children of Asia Games there are only 17 approved and compulsory sports. In addition, the Organizing Committee holding the next Games has the right to include additional five sports: this year they are chess, trap shooting, dance sport, Go and kickboxing.

Kickboxing competitions are held in the full contact with low kick section; this is one of the most spectacular disciplines of the sport. Not as many participants were announced for the Games in Yakutsk as we would like, but the level of competition did not suffer much from this. Competitive fighting takes place in every match. Young fighters fight fiercely for every point and perfect hit.

The tournament medals will be competed mainly among by athletes from federal districts and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The fights are observed by the Head Coach of the Russian National Team, Igor Kulbaev, and among the judges of the competition is also the legend of domestic kickboxing, Multiple World Champion Ruslan Tozliyan.

On the first day of the competition, seven pairs of fights took place, and on July 3 the final fights in all weight categories will take place. The hosts of the tournament – Yakut fighters – have the most finalists.
