8th Children of Asia Games Additional Sports
The 8th Children of Asia Games additional sports - dance sport, chess, Go, kickboxing and trap shooting.
Dance sport was first included into the Sports Program of the 2nd Children of Asia Games in 2000. The program of the 8th Children of Asia Games includes the disciplines “Breaking” and “Ten Dance”. 10 dances: Slow Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Quickstep, Samba, Cha-cha-cha, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive. Breaking: B-boys 1vs1, B-girls 1vs1 and mixed team B-boys, B-girls 2vs2. A total of five sets of medals will be played.
Chess has been in the program of Children of Asia Games since 1996. In chess, a game is played on a chessboard divided into 64 squares of light and dark colors. The game is played with 16 chess pieces on each side: a king, a queen, two bishops, two knights and eight pawns. The goal is to checkmate and capture your partner's king. The game is to protect your king and attack your partner's king. Whoever captured the king first won. At the VIII Children of Asia Games, two sets of medals will be competed.
Go is included in Children of Asia Games Program for the first time. The game begins with an empty board with 19 vertical and 19 horizontal lines marked on its surface. Players take turns placing black and white stones on the board. The goal is to fence off a larger area on the game board with stones of your own color than the opponent. During the game, points where you cannot go appear on the board: prohibited points. The one who surrounds the most territory wins. Competitions are held in the format of individual, doubles and team tournaments according to the Swiss system in 5-6 rounds. In this event, four sets of medals will be played.
Kickboxing is included in Children of Asia Games program for the first time. In kickboxing, the athlete must be equipped with protective equipment. Strikes can be applied with legs and arms only to the side and front parts of the body above the waist. Blows delivered to the sides and front of the head, covered by a helmet, are considered to have reached the target. Competitions will be held in the following weight categories: boys - 45 kg, 48 kg, 51 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg, 63.5 kg. 7 sets of medals will be awarded.
Trap shooting - first appeared in the program of the 6th Children of Asia Games in 2016. Competitions are held at open shooting ranges. Shooting is carried out from smooth-bore rifles with shot charges at special targets - saucers, which are thrown into the air using a special machine and fly at a speed of 20 meters per second. Athletes will compete in the following disciplines: trap (trench stand), skeet (round stand) and mixed pair. At the 8th Children of Asia Games, 5 sets of medals will be competed in this event.
The 8th Children of Asia Games, in addition to the 17 compulsory sports according to the Concept of the Games, includes 5 additional and 2 demonstration sports.
