Today, June 5, in Churapcha rural locality as part of the torch relay stage of the 8th Children of Asia Games, a press conference was held with the participation of Egor Sivtsev, First Deputy Head of Churapchinsky District, Maksim Prokopiev, head of the relay team of the 8th Children of Asia Games Directorate and Marianna Makarova, champion of the 4th Children of Asia Games in athletics in 2008.
"The torch relay of the 8th Children of Asia Games is held in all districts of Yakutia so that every resident of the republic could feel the spirit of the Games and its approach, become a participant of the international event. Torchbearers set an example for the future generation to achieve sporting heights,” Maksim Prokopiev noted.
The torch relay of the 8th Children of Asia Games was previously held in Khangalassky, Gorny, Vilyuysky, Verkhnevilyuysky, Nyurbinsky, Suntar, Mirny, Lensky, Anabarsky, Oleneksky, Bulun, Zhigansk, Ust-Yansky, Allaihovsky, Nizhnekolymsky, Srednekolymsky, Verkhnekolymsky, Olekminsky, Eveno-Bytantaysky, Verkhoyansk, Abyisky, Momsky, Oymyakonsky, Kobyaysky, Tomponsky, Tattinsky Districts.
"Today, in a solemn atmosphere, we welcomed the flame of the Games in Churapcha. This is really a celebration of sports for all residents. Our district has always been a forge of sports personnel. For all the time of the Games since 1996, 54 athletes have participated, among them there are winners of the competitions. At the upcoming 8th Games, 31 young athletes from Churapchinsky District will be on the Yakutia national team. We wish them all victories!", said Egor Sivtsev, First Deputy Head of Churapchinsky District.
Children of Asia really is a springboard to high victories for young athletes into the world of big sports. Thanks to the first President of Yakutia Mikhail Efimovich Nikolaev, we have such competitions that are still held today. We would like to remind you that the ceremony of lighting the flame of the 8th Games took place on March 19 in the Lena Pillars Natural Park 100 days before the start of the large-scale event. The torch relay started on March 20 in Pokrovsk, Khangalassky District and will finish on June 26 at the opening ceremony of the Games in Yakutsk. The total length of the relay across the republic is more than 37 thousand kilometres.
