Torch relay of the 8th Children of Asia Games is in Neryungri
Today, June 15, Neryungrinsky district met the torch relay of the 8th Children of Asia Games.
The flame of the 8th Children of Asia Games was carried through the streets of the district center by 20 torchbearers - winners, prize-winners of republican and all-Russian competitions: Ammosov Aital, Grechishkin Vasily, Davlyashev Anatoly, Kosenko Valeria, Kudiyarov Konstantin, Morozova Maria, Nogovitsyn Afanasy, Pavlova Diana, Popov Anatoly, Proskin Andrey, Prudnikova Ilona, Rozhina Valeria, Yapparov Marat, Sobolev Ilya, Tarabukin Dmitry, Shelopugin Anton, Cherkashin Alexander, Shalaginova Olga, Yapparov Rinat, Grebennikov Nikolay.
“Today there are 11 representatives of our district in the national team of Yakutia. We are proud of these guys. We are rooting for them! We are rooting for the entire national team of our republic!” – said the head of the Neryungrinsky district Roman Shchegelnyak.
The first torchbearer of the flame of the 8th Children of Asia Games in the Neryungrinsky district was the Master of Sports in national wrestling khapsagai, champion of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), winner of the interregional tournament “Challenge of Southern Yakutia” Dmitry Tarabukin.
According to the torchbearers, participation in the torch relay becomes an honorable mission for them. A lot of people always gather to participate in the event.
“This is my first time participating in the torch relay. It was very touching and exciting, because I am actively watching how the stages of the relay are going in other districts. It is very responsible to carry the torch, not every athlete is given such an opportunity,” noted candidate Master of Sports in weight-lifting Maria Morozova.
In 2008 and 2012, Neryungri was one of the cities hosting the 4th and 5th Children of Asia Games.
The 8th Children of Asia Games will take place from June 25 to July 7, 2024 in the city of Yakutsk.
