Tompo District welcomed the torch relay of the 8th Children of Asia Games. Members of the “Waves of Aldan” ensemble in national costumes greeted the torchbearers with bread and salt and kumis with fritters, and performed a welcoming dance.
Among the torchbearers-athletes of the Tompo District were participants of the upcoming Children of Asia Games in freestyle wrestling, members of the national team of Yakutia: medalist of the Far Eastern Federal District championship, medalist of the II stage of the Far Eastern Federal District Students' Spartakiade Alena Diodorova and champion of the Far Eastern Federal District championship Lyuba Kislyakova.
Famous sportsmen of the Tompo District carried the torch along the central street of Khandyga settlement. These are Lyudmila Lukashevich, champion of Russia in northern all-around, Nadezhda Zudina, winner of the republican traditional archery tournament “Tompo Head Cup”, Fedot Sleptsov, master of sports in freestyle wrestling, Nikita Potapov, multiple champion of the Republic in billiards, Yuri Syromyatnikov, two-time champion of the republic in khapsagai, Anna Malyavko, champion of the Republic in indoor athletics in adaptive sports, Magomed Davletgeriev, absolute champion of the republican tournament in khapsagai, and Peter Androsov, master of sports of Russia in archery.
Yakov Stepanov, Head of the Tomponsky District, Mikhail Neustroev, Chairman of the District Council of Deputies, and Irina Gelenkenova, Deputy Head of the Khandyga settlement, congratulated everyone on the momentous event. They wished our athletes and the Yakutia national team victories at the upcoming competitions.
