A master class held by Merey Akshalov at the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games

Today, on 3 July, a master class on boxing from Merey Akshalov, alumnus of the 3rd Children of Asia International Sports Games, World Champion and Champion of Asia (2013), Honoured Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chief Referee of the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games in Yakutsk, was held at the Puncher Boxing Club.

The event was held within the framework of the Games Alumni Union established by the Children of Asia International Committee.

"Such masterclasses help to get the information they need from representatives of other boxing schools, as well as to ask some questions, to communicate, to be inspired by some life examples from famous athletes, which is not always available without face-to-face communication. And of course, for the guys who take part in such masterclasses, it is an excellent opportunity to exchange experience with each other," said Rodion Plitukhin, Secretary General of the Russian Olympic Committee.

Mr Merey Akshalov noted that for him Children of Asia is a sort of mini Olympic Games, where young champions take their first steps into big sport.

"Here they are already getting an idea of how the Olympic, Asian and European Games are being held. This experience will help them navigate major competitions easier in the future," said Merey Akshalov.

More than 20 children took part in the master class, including the participants of the Children of Asia boxing team from Yakutia. Alexander Okhlopkov was one of them.

"Today there was a master class where Merey Akshalov shared the experience he got from other coaches at the World and Asian Championships. Such masterclasses help to become better and learn something new. This event helped me because I got a priceless experience from such a great man," the young boxer shared his impressions.
