Medals of the 8th Children of Asia Games presented to Russian Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev
A working meeting between the Head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolaev and the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Mikhail Degtyarev was held within the framework of part of SPIEF’24. The parties discussed the preparations for the 8th Children of Asia Games, and the medals of the competition were displayed as well.
The design of the medals is inspired by the Yakut national motifs, embodied in flowing lines with the shape of the Siberian Crane's feather. The Siberian Crane is a symbol of lightness, honesty and selflessness. The central element of each medal is represented by the ‘serge’ (a hitching post), which occupies a special niche in Yakut culture. It is believed that the serge protects from evil forces and symbolizes hospitality and prosperity.
“The 8th Children of Asia Games will be the main celebration of children’s sports in the country in 2024. Teams from 25 countries have applied for participation in the Games, along with teams of young athletes from the regions of Russia. More than 15 thousand athletes competed throughout the history of the Games, with a large number of European and world champions, Olympic champions among them. And, most importantly, the participants of the Game keep the warmest memories of our country in their hearts. I am confident that we will hold the 8th Children of Asia Games in Yakutsk at the highest level!” - said Aisen Nikolaev.
