Today, March 28, the capital of the diamond region, Mirny, took over the Games Torch Relay. It began its journey along Leningradsky Prospekt accompanied by the warm applause of local residents. The first Torch was lit by the acting Head of Mirny district Igor Vidman.
Further along the city streets the Torch was carried by 22 torchbearers - prominent athletes, coaches and sports veterans of Mirny.
Head of Mirny, Aleksei Tonkikh was the last torchbearer to end the Relay in Mirny district. He ran the 100 m race to the square.
The 8th Children of Asia Games Torch Relay started on March 20 from the birthplace of the founder of Children of Asia Games - Mikhail Nikolaev - Khangalas district. During 100 days, the Torch Relay will travel across all districts of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
