Organizers of the 8th Children of Asia Games torch relay were awarded in Yakutsk
The organizers of the 8th Children of Asia Games torch relay, which took place in all 36 municipalities of the republic from March 19 to June 26, were solemnly awarded in Yakutsk. Letters of appreciation were awarded by Deputy Chairman of the Government of Yakutia - Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the 8th Children of Asia Games Sergey Mestnikov and Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the region Leonid Spiridonov.
A total of 514 torchbearers and 974 volunteers took part in the relay. Thus, the torch with the flame traveled more than 37 thousand kilometers across the country. As Sergey Mestnikov noted, this event united the entire population of Yakutia and attracted even more public attention to the development of children's and youth sports.
"Torchbearers were a huge number of prominent people - athletes, cultural and public figures who made a special contribution to the development of not only Yakutia, but also the country as a whole. The torch relay was able to bring together and unite the population of our republic. Thus, once again the Children of Asia Games drew public attention to the topic of sports development and the competitions themselves. And we, of course, are very grateful to the people who were able to organize all this and make it a reality," emphasized the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Yakutia.
According to Leonid Spiridonov, in each municipal district the torch relay was held at a high organizational level, as evidenced by the feedback from spectators, torchbearers and volunteers.
"The working committee has carried out a large-scale front of work since October 2023, approved the plan of events, the route of the Games torch relay by municipalities, solved transportation and security issues, and signed agreements with each district. As a result, the Torch Relay was held at a high organizational level in every district of Yakutia, as evidenced by the feedback from spectators, torchbearers and volunteers. I am sure that in the future we will hold many more grand sporting events at the same level," said the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the region.
Let us remind you that the ceremony of lighting the flame took place on March 19, 100 days before the start of the Games in the Lena Pillars Nature Park in Khangalassky District of Yakutia. From March 20 to June 26, the torch relay covered all municipalities of the republic.
