New climbing wall to allow Rock Climbing actively develop in Yakutia - President of the Climbing Federation of Russia

This is an interview of Mr. Dmitry Bychkov, President of the Climbing Federation of Russia, to the Information Service of the Russian Olympic Committee.

Answering the question about the inclusion of rock climbing in the program of the Children of Asia Games 2024 as a demonstration sport, Dmitry Bychkov said the following:

- When a sport makes its debut in the program of the Games, it goes through a demonstration phase. At the same time, in Yakutsk, ordinary competitions in rock climbing will be held with the awarding of winners, as in other sports. It is important that a new modern climbing wall will appear in the region on the eve of the competition. This will allow rock climbing to develop more actively in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in the future.

Recall that the building of a climbing wall in Yakutsk became possible due to the personal initiative of the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Mr. Aysen Nikolayev. The facility is scheduled to be put into operation this year and will be carried out within the framework of the program of the Russian Olympians Support Fund. The facility will be located in the Dokhsun Sports Complex and meets the requirements for holding international competitions.
