Continue to Get Acquainted with the 8th Children of Asia Games Sports
Today we get acquainted with the gentlemen's sport - boxing, with the most popular sport - volleyball, one of the variations of football - futsal and a type of martial arts - taekwondo.
Boxing has been included in the program since the 1st Children of Asia Games. This is a fist fight between two athletes, held in the ring. Boxing must be done in special soft gloves weighing 10 ounces (284 g), striking the front and side of the opponent’s head and torso. Hitting below the belt is prohibited. Boxers at the 8th Children of Asia Games will compete in the following weight categories: boys - 44-46 kg, 48 kg, 50 kg, 52 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg, 63 kg, 66 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, 80 kg. Girls - 44-46 kg, 50 kg, 52 kg, 54 kg and 57 kg.
Volleyball was first included in the program of the 2nd Children of Asia Games in 2000. Volleyball is a team game in which two teams compete on a playing court divided by a net. The goal of the game is to send the ball over the net to land on the opponent's court and prevent the opponent from making the same attempt. Player teams consist of 12 boys or girls.
Futsal is one of the types of football that was included in the Games program quite recently, at the 7th Children of Asia Games in 2022 in Vladivostok. This is a sports game with feet and a ball on a rectangular court, the duration of the match is 2 halves of 20 minutes. The clock stops if the ball goes out of bounds. A team has 5 players, including one goalkeeper.
Taekwondo, a Korean martial art based on Japanese karate, was first included in the program of the 3rd Children of Asia Games in 2004. Its main difference from karate is the large number of kicks. Athletes at the 8th Children of Asia Games will compete in the following weight categories: boys - 48 kg, 55 kg, 63 kg, 73 kg, 73+ kg, and girls - 44 kg, 449 kg, 63 kg, 63+ kg.
The 8th Children of Asia Games program includes 24 sports, of which 17 are mandatory according to the approved Concept of the Games. Among them are 3x3 basketball, boxing, khapsagai, kurash, volleyball, judo, athletics, mas-wrestling, table tennis, swimming, wrestling, sambo, shooting, archery, taekwondo, mini-football and rhythmic gymnastics.
