The Sakha Republic (Yakutia) indoor championship in Yakut jumps has ended in Yakutsk. Yunost Stadium brought together 120 young athletes from 16 teams of the republic. Athletes competed for medals in three age groups - 2007-2008, 2009-2010 and 2011-2012.
It is noteworthy that for boys and girls aged 15-16 years, the championship became the second qualifying stage for the formation of Yakutia united team for the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games. 120 athletes from 16 teams of the republic are participating in the competition.
“The results of young athletes are encouraging. At this stage, athletes show good results in high and long jumps compared, for example, with the previous Children of Asia Games in Vladivostok. The fight for a place in the united team is competitive. Moreover, among the girls, Anastasia Zhirkova may become team member, who, despite the fact that she is only 13 years old, shows good results beyond her years. The last third and final stage of selection will take place in May in the open air, based on the results of which the composition of the team for the Games in Yakutsk will be determined,” Maxim Oegosturov, senior coach of Yakutia united team, told Sport Yakutia.
