Children's Sports in the East – Attraction Point for Countries of the Asia-Pacific Region
In the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum Children's Sports in the East – Attraction Point for Countries of the Asia-Pacific Region Session took place at the pavilion of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation. The session was attended by Mr. Leonid Spiridonov, the Minister for Physical Culture and Sports of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Mr. Jean Kuznetsov, the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of Primorsky Krai and Mr. Mikhail Sivtsev, Acting Director General of the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games Directorate.
During the session, the speakers discussed the role of major sporting events in the development of city infrastructure, the preparation of Olympic talents in theRussian Far East based on the experiences of two regions, Primorsky Krai and Yakutia, which have hosted Children of Asia International Sports Games. Mr. Jean Kuznetsov highlighted the refurbishment and normalization of sports infrastructure in Vladivostok for Children of Asia Games. Mr. Leonid Spiridonov spoke about the progress in preparing for the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games in Yakutsk. Currently, repair work is underway on sports venues, residential and catering facilities, road repairs are ongoing, and a city improvement plan is being formed.
"The Sakha Republic (Yakutia) has a rich experience in hosting large-scale Russian and international competitions. Hosting Children of Asia International Sports Games on our homeland will be a bright international celebration contributing to the development of youth sports and friendship among children from different countries," noted Mr. Leonid Spiridonov, the Minister of Sports of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
Nowadays Children of Asia International Sports Games serve as a robust platform for sports cooperation among young athletes from countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
"The scientific aspects of the development of youth sports will be addressed in the business program of the upcoming Games. In addition to the competitive component, the Games have always been known for their rich and vibrant cultural and business programs. Children of Asia Games is not just a competition but also a strong platform for addressing the development and support of youth sports in Asian countries," stated Acting Director General of the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games Directorate, Mr. Mikhail Sivtsev.
Recall the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games will take place in Yakutsk from June 25 to July 7, 2024. Young athletes will compete for 224 sets of medals in 24 sports.
