Press Conference on the 8th Children of Asia Games Took Place

The press conference were attended by President of the Children of Asia International Committee Mr. Vladimir Maksimov, Minister for Physical Culture and Sports of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Mr. Leonid Spiridonov and Acting Director General of the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games Directorate Mr. Mikhail Sivtsev.

The 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games will be held in Yakutsk from June 25 to July 7, 2024. Young athletes will compete in 24 sports and play 224 sets of medals. In total, 16 facilities will be involved in the Games. Currently, repair work is underway at sports and accommodation facilities.

Recall that a new multifunctional sports complex and a climbing wall are being built for Children of Asia Games in Yakutsk. The climbing wall, 16 meters high, is being built according to the requirements of international competitions. The venue will be divided into 3 sectors for speed climbing (reference course, width 6 meters), lead climbing (width 25 meters), bouldering, a series of short 5-8 moves, extremely difficult routes (height 4 meters, width up to 27 meters). The construction will be carried out within the framework of the program of the Russian Olympians Support Fund. The approximate cost of the venue is more than 72 million rubles.

Mr. Vladimir Maksimov, President of the Children of Asia International Committee: “Now we are all in great anticipation, the Games are returning home and will be held in their birthplace, in Yakutsk. To date, the Children of Asia International Committee is confident that the forthcoming Games will move to a new level. Organizing Committee makes every effort to bring updates to holding competitions. I am convinced the upcoming Children of Asia Games in Yakutsk will be the best in their long history through joint efforts. 

During the press conference, Mr. Vladimir Maksimov presented Mr. Leonid Spiridonov with Champion’s badge for being the winner of the 1st Children of Asia Games in 1996. Recall that the commemorative badge is made in the form of the Children of Asia International Committee’s logo framed by an olive branch, as a symbol of peace and victory.
