In Yakutsk, a final meeting on preparation and holding of the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games was held with Head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Mr. Aysen Nikolaev and with President of the Children of Asia International Committee Mr. Vladimir Maksimov. The meeting was held within the framework of Chefs de Mission Seminar represented by heads of delegations from 13 foreign countries.
“The mission of our Games is to popularize the ideas of the Olympic movement, develop children's sports, and strengthen international sports cooperation. Every year the prestige of the Games and the number of participants are growing. This suggests that the participating countries consider these sports competitions as a serious step towards the maturation of athletes, as a way of preparing for the highest sports achievements,” Mr. Aysen Nikolaev emphasized.
He added that many participants of Children of Asia Games subsequently became world champions, champions of Asia, Europe, the Olympic Games, and continue to represent their countries in the international arena.
President of the Children of Asia International Committee Mr. Vladimir Maksimov noted that the city of Yakutsk is actively preparing to receive guests. He said that based on the results of venue tour, one can say with confidence that the sports infrastructure of the republic will be 100% ready to host the Games next year.
“Yakutia, as the birthplace of the Games, has done a lot over the 20 years of holding these competitions on its territory, made a great contribution to the development of children's sports, the unification of children of the Asian continent. We worked together to update and improve the sports infrastructure, develop services and train athletes,” Mr. Vladimir Maksimov said.
“The idea of holding the Children of Asia Games has been considered by the Olympic Council of Asia since the early 2000s. In 2012, on the initiative of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, the idea of creating an International Committee was approved. I want to emphasize the great experience gained by the Children of Asia International Committee. The Сommittee has a quick reaction, a modern presentation of information. It has growing positions. Holding such competitions builds friendship between countries, thus we build our beautiful future,” said Ms. Natalia Sipovich, member of the Executive Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia.
Chefs de Mission Seminar brought together representatives of sports delegations from Thailand, Maldives, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Pakistan, Armenia, Palestine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and regions of Russia.
