8th Children of Asia International Sports Games presented at International Russia EXPO
Today, as part of the International Russia EXPO at VDNKh, the presentation of the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games took place. In 2024 the Games are returning to their historical homeland, bringing together young athletes from various countries of the Asian continent. The Games will take place from June 25 to July 7 in Yakutsk.
Within the framework of the presentation at VDNKh, a strategic session "Children of Asia - Beginning of victories!" was held with the participation of the Head of Yakutia Mr. Aisen Nikolaev, the President of the Russian Olympic Committee Mr. Stanislav Pozdnyakov, the President of the Children of Asia International Committee Mr. Vladimir Maksimov, the First Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Mr. Azat Kadyrov, and the Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Ms. Lilia Akhaimova. The session was moderated by the sports commentator and press secretary of the Russian Olympic Committee Mr. Konstantin Vybornov.
"It is symbolic that the Day of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) at the International Russia EXPO has begun with the presentation of Children of Asia Games. These Games have become the largest sports festival that has reached the international level. Throughout the history, more than 15,000 athletes have participated in the Games. Some of them subsequently became European and World, as well as Olympic champions. The most important thing is that they carry love for our country in their hearts today. Yakutia will put every effort to make 2024 Games the best," said the Head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Mr. Aisen Nikolaev.
The session "Children of Asia - Beginning of victories!" became a platform for discussing issues related to the prospects of children’s sports development, the role of the Games in strengthening international sports and humanitarian cooperation, and the importance of educational programs for young athletes.
"Today, Children of Asia Games are not just about sports but they also involve significant work in the fields of education, culture, and upbringing. Over the course of 27 years, tremendous work has been done in this direction. One of our main tasks is the upbringing of a worthy individual. Not every athlete participating in the Games becomes an Olympic champion, but most of them successfully work in various fields. The International Russia EXPO is declared as one of the main exhibitions showcasing Russia's achievements in various industries, and it is gratifying that the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) presents the Children of Asia project as one of the main projects that truly contributes to the development of human capital. This is the main legacy of our Games, their main idea, which was voiced by the First President of the republic and the founder of the Games Mr. Mikhail Nikolaev back in 1996, when everything was just getting started," noted Mr. Vladimir Maksimov, President of the Children of Asia International Committee.
Currently, Children of Asia Games are the largest starting platform for young athletes in the world of major sports and a symbol of uniting athletes from across the Asian continent.
"It is a great honor for me to be the Chairman of the Children of Asia Games Alumni Union. We organize various sports and educational projects cooperatively. In 2024 during the 8th Children of Asia Games in Yakutsk we plan to implement the “Future Champion” project. It will focus on the behavioral and psychological upbringing of young athletes. With significant experience in sports, we understand what was lacking on our path, what needs to be added, what needs to be implemented to make the Games better, to develop them and, of course, to aid the development of our young athletes, our future champions who will represent the honor of their countries at the international level," said Olympic champion in gymnastics Ms. Lilia Akhaimova.
To recall, the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games will take place from June 25 to July 7, 2024, in Yakutsk. The competitions will be held in 24 sports, and young athletes will compete for 224 sets of medals.
